Description: Specialized vehicles such as "Ambulance Buses" to transport stretcher-borne patients during a mass-casualty event. Includes retrofit kits to convert existing vehicles into mass casualty transports.

ImportantFeatures: Conversion kits should be easy to store and assemble.
Ability to carry and secure patients on litters, and medical supplies and equipment needed during patient transport. Includes mechanism(s) for patient restraint as well as for securing devices that are used for carrying non-ambulatory patients.
Provision of privacy and screening from public view.


Operating Considerations: Consider ability to communicate with regulating and receiving authorities.
Must be compatible and interoperable with other local health, medical and transportation system assets.
Consider use of run-flat tires if indicated by mission requirements.
Carefully evaluate warranty and life-cycle maintenance costs.
Consider usage frequency - if not used regularly, vehicle should be exercised at least quarterly to ensure reliable operation.
