Previous SEL Number: 07RD-03-DRHS

Description: Radionuclide detector utilizing high-purity crystal such as Germanium and LaBr.
DIQCode: [D,I,Q]
[Note: This item was previously numbered as 07RD-01-DHPG and 07RD-02-DRHS.]

ImportantFeatures: Laboratory-class equipment, transportable.
Library-based, Alpha and X-Ray/Gamma isotope characterization.
Enhanced capability to identify special nuclear material (SNM) that handheld identifiers cannot detect due to low energy levels (keV).

See 07RD-04-SGND for additional mobile options.

Operating Considerations: Considerable preparation time - units will require at least 2 hours to achieve operating temperature, and additional time to stabilize.
Liquid nitrogen coolant or electrical cooling required.
Unless power is provided during transport to maintain operating temperatures, unit will not be immediately usable on scene.
Calibration standards apply.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) license may be required, depending upon the strength of the calibration source(s).
