Description: E-mail server software.

ImportantFeatures: Many products are available with additional features such as spam filtering, virus protection, and groupware (calendaring, file sharing, instant messaging, etc.).
Some vendors may sell a hardened email appliance with anti-spam, anti-malware, and other security-related included. This may also be done in the cloud as a Software as a Service (SaaS) offering.

Operating Considerations: Need to control relay of outbound mail to prevent server from being used as a spam platform.
Consider storage and archiving requirements.
