Description: Systems used to alert the public of protective actions or to provide warning to the public in the event of an incident, such as sirens, the Emergency Alert System (EAS), Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), and the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS).

ImportantFeatures: Ability to pre-define specific calling/notification areas (e.g., via geofencing, which allows users to select areas from a map display), and easily select them for broadcast.

Operating Considerations: EAS system security needs to be considered - strong passwords, systems behind firewalls etc. Computer systems should be hardened in accordance with applicable NIST
