Operating Considerations:
Class A firefighting foams are designed to serve as a wetting agent that reduces the surface tension of water, thus allowing water to penetrate into deep-seated fires involving ordinary combustible materials commonly encountered in wildland and structure fires.
- Mixing rates of Class A foams in water are typically 1% concentration or less.
- Systems for application may be similar in nature to those used for Class B foams (see 03SF-01-FODS).
