Description: Diversionary devices, non-pyrotechnically activated. Activated devices provide diversion through sound (170 +/- decibels) and/or lachrymators.

ImportantFeatures: Non-pyrotechnically activated, lightweight.
Delivery systems can use a non-flammable compressed gas delivered to a burst envelope, or other delivery method.
Sound devices produce a sudden sound at a high decibel level to distract and or be uncomfortable to anyone in the immediate vicinity.
Built-in or exterior safeties to avoid inadvertent activation while storing and or transporting.
Delay from initiation to activation for safe launch.
Capability of hand or mechanical means of launching after initiation. Ideally, any and all parts of the device should be fastened to the device to avoid creating projectiles when activated.
Device should be reusable, and able to be easily and safely re-armed for future use.


Operating Considerations: Depending on your agency or department's storage / transportation policies these devices could require less stringent control than pyrotechnical devices.

Training Requirements: Per manufacturer's specifications.
Initial Training: Minimal (<1 day)
Sustainment Training: Minimal (<1 day)
