Description: Equipment and supply types used to transport large animals, including livestock, horses, zoo animals and wildlife.

ImportantFeatures: Examples include, but are not limited to: Animal Feeding and Supplies, Animal First Aid, Animal Handler Protection, Animal Handling and Restraint, Animal Housing, Animal Husbandry, Animal Identification, Animal Transportation, Communications, Environmental Cleaning and Disinfection, Tools and Supplies.

Operating Considerations: Compatible with existing animal transportation methods, which should be researched prior to purchase of such equipment.
Note that operating a vehicle with a GVWR greater than 26,000 pounds requires a commercial driver's license or equivalent.
The United States Department of Agriculture has transportation standards applicable to commercial carriers registered under the Animal Welfare Act. These standards provide useful guidance on conditions for transporting animals.


Training Requirements: NIMS-credentialed Animal Emergency Responder
Initial Training: Moderate (1-2 days)
Sustainment Training: Minimal (<1 day)
