Description: Printer using laser or ink-jet technology.

ImportantFeatures: Minimum 600 DPI, high quality would be 1200 DPI or higher.
Wireless and USB network connectivity (802.x).
Direct wireless printing.
Smart media ports desirable
Network compatibility (wired, wireless) desirable.
Color and duplex printing available.

Operating Considerations: Consumables (toner and ink supplies) can be critical, and quickly consumed when printing high resolution full-page color.
Consider types of output (e.g., images) and desired output media before deciding on print quality requirement.
Consider cost of consumables.
Regarding output, consider volume of output versus rated print speed.
Consider wired/wireless capabilities, and portability if required.
Consider proper ventilation for printer, especially laser printers.
Consider power needs of the laser printer. Some laser printers tend to have high power draws upon startup and/or when beginning a print job. Also, laser printers can generally not operate on battery backup devices for that reason.
