Description: Facial recognition software for access control, identification of criminal actors (IFF), etc.

This functionality may also be obtainable via subscription as a cloud-based service using a web browser interface or a mobile app, as opposed to purchasing software. However, special security considerations apply for data stored remotely. See 04AP-11-SAAS for further information.

ImportantFeatures: Depends upon established database of reference photos.
Purchasable as cloud-based service.
For large scale applications, substantial processing power is required.

Operating Considerations: Emerging technology. Frequent releases of new and improved products.
Consider import process/compatibility with source reference database.
Compliance with standards is critical.
Consider data reporting and integration.
Consider false positives vs. false negatives and/or percent likelihood it is actually the person being sought.
If Internet or local network connectivity is required, consider connectivity requirements for field operations.
