Description: PCMCIA card or USB device for access to on-line data services. Also includes standalone portable devices capable of producing a wifi hotspot.

ImportantFeatures: Multiple protocols available such as General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), CDMA, EVDO, Edge 3.
LTE, 4G, or 5G service is preferred where available.
Devices should now be FirstNet capable.

Operating Considerations: Consider coverage area.
Examine billing plan parameters.
Some devices can provide connectivity via WiFi to multiple participants. Consider using these portable hotspots for response team use. However, look carefully at performance and capacity - some portable WiFi devices can adequatly handle only 4-5 users.
