Description: Personal firewall for operation on individual devices. Usually a software solution, but appliances are also available.

ImportantFeatures: Some effective shareware available.
For current Windows systems, the Windows Defender Firewall provided with the operating system is sufficient for most users.

Operating Considerations: Shareware or purchased.
May require centralized management to ensure synchronization of allowable traffic across the organization.
May require "baselining" against organizational policy before implementation, and should be tested to ensure that required applications work correctly when the firewall is active.
