Description: Software, either local or cloud-based, that analyzes video input to detect/determine temporal and spacial events, either in real time or using archival video. Analytical priorities might include recognition (e.g., facial or license plate recognition) or patterns (movement or arrangement or persons, vehicles, or other objects). See 04MD-01-VCAM and 13LE-00-SURV for examples of input devices.

ImportantFeatures: Local or cloud-based.
May incorporate deep learning technology for use with extremely large datasets.
Integration with other systems such as facial recognition.
Ability to trigger actions or alerts based upon predefined appearance, behavior, or location of persons/objects.

Operating Considerations: Consider training and operational staffing requirements.
Consider file type compatibility, ensuring that the software will properly analyze video from all desired input sources, or that appropriate conversion is available.
Consider access control and security. Determine the number of users who require access and avoid sharing any common passwords.
For locally run products, consider hardware requirements and network access requirements.
For cloud-based products, consider contingency planning for loss of Internet connectivity or a provider service outage. Risk assessment may dictate that some applications are too critical to be cloud-based unless local backup or alternate functionality exists.
Consider client-side requirements. Is the application browser based? If so, is it compatible with existing browsers (Explorer, Safari, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.)? If client software is required, what hardware/operating system is needed.
Consider contractual obligations such as term of contract and termination fees, as well as ownership of data and liability for data loss.

Training Requirements: Per manufacturer's requirements.
Initial Training: Extensive (>2 days)
Sustainment Training: Moderate (1-2 days)
