Description: Software application and associated hardware and material for creating site/event credential badges and controlling scene access.

Although some hardware would still be required, this functionality may also be obtainable via subscription as a cloud-based service, as opposed to purchasing software. However, special security considerations apply for data stored remotely. See 04AP-11-SAAS for further information.

ImportantFeatures: Portability, durability and ease of data entry for on-scene use.
More advanced products may incorporate proximity card or smart card technologies.

Operating Considerations: Additional equipment needs may include: digital cameras, laminating equipment, biometrics software, etc.
Also consider mobile/portable versus server-based/attached systems.
Consider reach-back ability (to access other/remote databases).
Should integrate with ICS software.
Consider systems compliant with FIPS Publication 201-2 and HSPD-12.
Some products can serve dual-use as network / workstation login credentials. Such integration will require significant IT changes.
