Description: Handheld or portable device for measuring the speed of vehicular traffic. Uses Doppler Radar or LIDAR technology to compute speed and display to user.

ImportantFeatures: Should be resistant to drop and temperature. Digital readout should be day/night readable. Should allow adjustable limit setting such that speed in excess of limit causes audible/visual alert.

Operating Considerations: Consider calibration requirements and any other evidentiary requirements. Radar devices are generally less expensive, but the less focused beam can cover multiple targets and "masking" can occur. LIDAR units can single out targets more effectively.

Training Requirements: Per Manufacturer's Specifications and departmental requirements.
Initial Training: Minimal (<1 day)
Sustainment Training: Minimal (<1 day)
