(Replaces Item 01WA-04-GLOV)
ImportantFeatures:
Gloves are worn with an ensemble that includes ice suit, footwear, helmet, and optional swimming fins. The ensemble is designed to provide thermal and flotation protection for extreme cold water. Recommended gloves should use a 5-finger design for normal operations or a 3-finger design for aggressive rescue swimming activities, be available in multiple sizes, have retention straps that remain secure in use, and have a palm that resist abrasions. Materials used are required to demonstrate resistance to physical hazards and provide thermal insulation to the hands.
Operating Considerations:
Ice suits should be utilized in static or non-moving water rescue operations only.
Surface water operations are defined as "Technical rescue activities requiring water functional capabilities involving surface water, swift water, tidal water, surf, and ice that do not require underwater respiratory equipment."
