Description: Ballistic helmet intended to protect the wearer against small arms fire and fragmentation threats.

ImportantFeatures: Ballistic helmets covered in this standard are classified into three levels of protective performance.

Consider ability to attach visors and/or neck protection. Should accommodate full face respirator or SCBA
Self Contained Breathing Apparatus

Operating Considerations: Requirements for face shields are not included in NIJ

Training Requirements: Core Training: OSHA 1910.132, NTOA or equivalent.
